Vehicle Description

2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 – 184 Original Miles – Torch Red – 5-Speed Manual. Every once in a while, a car comes along that makes you wonder how it survived more than two decades without ever really being driven. This absolutely stunning 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is another remarkable vehicle from the private 16-car collection recently acquired by Mashburn Motors, and with an unbelievable 184 original miles, this is about as close as you're going to get to turning the clock back to 2004 and buying a new Mach 1 all over again. Finished in beautiful Torch Red with the unmistakable Mach 1 satin-black hood treatment, functional Shaker hood scoop, lower body striping, rear spoiler and retro-inspired 17-inch wheels, this car looks absolutely spectacular. Ford revived the legendary Mach 1 name for 2003 and 2004, combining classic Mustang styling cues with some serious performance hardware, and the result has become one of the most collectible Mustangs of the New Edge generation. Underneath that Shaker is Ford's 4.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V8, factory rated at 305 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Even better, this one is backed by the enthusiast's choice—the 5-speed manual transmission. With its unique suspension tuning, performance rear axle and unmistakable Shaker induction system, the Mach 1 was much more than an appearance package. It was a legitimate performance Mustang with a personality all its own. The condition of this car is simply extraordinary. At only 184 original miles, the Torch Red paint has a gorgeous, deep shine and the exterior presents just as you would hope an exceptionally preserved car of this caliber would. The black Mach 1 graphics beautifully contrast the red finish, the wheels are outstanding and even the smallest exterior details show just how little use this car has experienced. Inside, it gets even better. The unique Mach 1 interior is virtually untouched, with its retro-inspired seating, aluminum-look gauge cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel and aluminum shift knob all presenting beautifully. Look closely at the driver's seat bolsters, steering wheel, pedals, carpeting, console and controls and you'll understand what 184 miles really looks like. There simply hasn't been enough seat time to create the wear normally found on a 22-year-old Mustang. Open the hood and the preservation continues. The engine compartment remains exceptionally clean and original in appearance, with the massive Shaker assembly sitting exactly where it belongs atop that DOHC V8. But perhaps some of the most impressive photographs of this Mach 1 are the ones taken underneath it. Factory finishes, identification markings, paint markings and other details remain plainly visible throughout the chassis and rear axle area. Nothing has been cosmetically restored underneath to manufacture the appearance of a low-mile car—the condition speaks for itself and is entirely consistent with a Mustang that has traveled only 184 miles since new. Just as importantly, this Mach 1 retains the supporting pieces you hope to find with an automobile this exceptional, including its Ford window sticker, owner's literature and portfolio, two original keys and two factory remotes. On an ordinary used Mustang these things are nice to have. On a 184-mile collector car, they are an important part of its history. The 2004 model year was also significant as both the final year of the revived Mach 1 and the final year of the New Edge Mustang, making this one of the last examples of an era that has developed a very loyal following among Ford enthusiasts. Ford built only 7,182 Mach 1s for 2004, and just 1,259 were finished in Torch Red, making this already special combination even more interesting when paired with a 5-speed manual and mileage this extraordinary. There are low-mileage collector cars, and then there are automobiles like this that were seemingly put away almost from the moment they were new. After more than two decades, this Mach 1 has accumulated just 184 original miles—an average of less than nine miles per year. It hasn't been restored to look like a 184-mile car. It is a 184-mile car. If you've been waiting for an opportunity to own an investment-quality example of one of the most recognizable modern Mustangs Ford produced, this one deserves serious consideration. Torch Red, 5-speed manual, 32-valve DOHC V8, functional Shaker, original documentation and an unbelievable 184 original miles. Finding another 2004 Mach 1 is easy. Finding another one preserved like this is an entirely different proposition. For more info contact Kevin. Mashburn Motors – Specializing in exceptional low-mileage vehicles since 1989.
