Vehicle Description
Here’s a true late-’90s SUV survivor — a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4 with just 55,000 original miles. This four-door Explorer has spent its entire life in Kentucky and presents beautifully in bright red with charcoal lower accent and medium graphite leather interior. Powered by the ever-reliable 4.0-liter V6 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, this Explorer runs and drives exactly as a well-kept, low-mile example should. These second-generation Explorers were some of the most popular SUVs of their time, known for their durability, practical 4x4 capability, and comfortable ride. Nicely equipped for its era, this XLT features factory aluminum wheels, leather interior, power options, and the comfort touches that made these SUVs so desirable when new. The body and interior are in excellent condition, reflecting careful ownership over the years. The undercarriage shows natural browning consistent with age but no crusty rust — clean, honest metal that has not been refinished or dressed up. What you see is exactly what you’re getting. This Explorer does have a small ding on the front passenger-side bumper from a minor accident earlier in its life that was never repaired. It’s not very noticeable, and the vehicle still carries a clean, solid appearance overall. Complete with all books, keys, and original floor mats, this is a very nice 28-year-old SUV that is becoming harder to find in this kind of preserved condition. If you’re a fan of this generation Explorer and appreciate low-mile, honest examples, this is definitely one to consider. For more information, contact Kevin at Mashburn Motors.
