Vehicle Description

We are proud to present what may be the finest example in existence of a 1993 Mazda B2200 pickup, showing only 1,470 original miles. Finished in Tropical Emerald with a Gray vinyl interior, this little gem is immaculate from top to bottom and represents the very essence of a simple, reliable truck—equipped with a fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes, and aftermarket air conditioning. This truck was purchased new at Big Billy Barrett Mazda in Dallas, Texas by Tom Danaher, a legendary Marine Corps combat pilot who flew P-47 Thunderbolts in WWII and later served in Korea. Beyond his decorated military career, Danaher became well known in Hollywood, flying and coordinating aerial scenes in more than two dozen films, including Out of Africa, Empire of the Sun, GoldenEye, Air America, Cliffhanger, and IMAX features such as Wings of Courage and Amazon. He was inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation in 1988. After his passing, the truck was sold at his estate auction in April of 2015 with just 258 original miles, where it was purchased by a gentleman from Wichita Falls, Texas. This caretaker added another remarkable chapter, as he was a decorated Vietnam helicopter pilot who in 1966 heroically rescued a downed comrade under heavy fire and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery. Built in May of 1993, this B2200 comes from the final U.S. model year for Mazda’s Japan-built B-Series, just before imports ended and the line transitioned to a Ford Ranger–based design for 1994. That makes this truck not only one of the lowest-mile survivors anywhere, but also likely among the last Japan-built examples shipped to the United States. Having spent its entire life in Texas and preserved in extraordinary condition, this pickup stands as both a time-capsule truck and a rolling piece of aviation and film history. If you’re in the market for the nicest, lowest-mile, and most storied Mazda B-Series in the country, this is the one. For more information, call Kevin at Mashburn Motors today.
