2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 – 1,492 Original Miles – One Owner – Vista Blue / White Stripes Few color combinations in American performance-car history are more instantly associated with the Shelby name than blue and white, and it would be difficult to imagine a more fitting combination for the return of one of Ford's most legendary performance cars. Finished in stunning Vista Blue with White Le Mans stripes, this spectacular 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has traveled just 1,492 original miles since new and is another exceptional automobile from the private 17-car collection recently acquired by Mashburn Motors. It has had one owner from new, and from top to bottom its condition tells the story of a Shelby that was preserved rather than simply driven. The 2007 model year was a milestone in Ford and Shelby history. After an absence of nearly four decades, the legendary Shelby GT500 name returned to the Mustang lineup, bringing Carroll Shelby's name back together with Ford's highest-performance production Mustang. Under the hood was a hand-built, supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 producing 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, backed by a heavy-duty Tremec 6-speed manual transmission. Brembo front brakes, SVT-tuned suspension and a limited-slip rear axle completed a package that immediately established the new GT500 as the king of the Mustang lineup. And this particular example looks every bit as special as those specifications suggest. The Vista Blue paint is absolutely gorgeous, with tremendous depth and shine, while the broad White Le Mans stripes running across the hood, roof and deck lid are complemented by the white GT500 rocker stripes, Cobra fender emblems, SHELBY rear lettering and original SVT wheels. Blue and white had been part of the Shelby visual identity for generations, and on an inaugural-year modern GT500, the combination simply looks right. Inside, the extraordinary mileage becomes immediately apparent. The black leather sport seats remain beautifully preserved, with virtually none of the bolster wear normally associated with an 19-year-old performance car. The leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum shift knob, pedals, carpeting, console, dashboard and switchgear all show remarkably little use. The odometer currently displays just 1,491.9 miles, and the condition throughout the interior is exactly what you would hope to find accompanying a number that low. Lift the hood and the story continues. The supercharged 5.4-liter engine compartment remains exceptionally clean and stock in appearance. That's becoming increasingly significant with early GT500s, as many were modified almost immediately with smaller supercharger pulleys, cold-air intakes, exhaust systems, tunes and other performance upgrades. This Shelby appears to have escaped that fate, retaining the wonderfully original presentation collectors increasingly seek. Perhaps even more impressive is what you'll find underneath. The chassis remains remarkably well preserved, with original finishes, factory identification labels, stickers and markings still visible throughout. Floor pans, suspension components and structural areas present exactly as you'd expect from an automobile that has traveled fewer than 1,500 miles. There is minor, honest aging on some untreated metal components—as there should be after nearly two decades—but nothing underneath has been cosmetically restored or covered up to manufacture the appearance of a low-mile car. It doesn't look like a restored 1,492-mile GT500. It looks like what it is: an original 1,492-mile GT500. This Shelby also retains its original owner's manual and Shelby/SVT portfolio along with both sets of original keys and factory remotes, important accompanying pieces for an automobile of this caliber. We are also obtaining additional VIN-specific Ford documentation, including a reproduction of its original window sticker, to further complete its collector file. There have certainly been faster Mustangs built since 2007. Technology has moved on and horsepower numbers have climbed dramatically. But those things haven't diminished what made the original modern GT500 so special. There's a wonderful simplicity to the formula: 500 supercharged horsepower, rear-wheel drive, three pedals and a 6-speed manual transmission, all wrapped in unmistakable Shelby styling. And this wasn't simply another model year. 2007 was where the modern GT500 story began. Nearly two decades later, finding one is easy. Finding an inaugural-year, one-owner example with fewer than 1,500 original miles, exceptional originality, beautiful preservation, both sets of keys and documentation is an entirely different proposition. Add one of the most timeless combinations ever associated with the Shelby name—Vista Blue and White—and this becomes a very special automobile indeed.
